WEG Rugao New Plant Inauguration Ceremony Successfully Concluded

On April 28, 2016, the inauguration ceremony of WEG Rugao's new factory was officially held. The new factory is located in Rugao Economic and Technological Development Zone, 65 kilometers away from WEG's first Chinese factory WNT (WEG Nantong) and 180 kilometers away from Shanghai.

Since the official start of production in January 2015, the production plant area has reached 35,000 square meters and employs more than 150 people. According to the design plan of the project, it is expected that by 2020, the plant area will exceed 90,000 square meters and employ more than 3,000 people.

The inauguration ceremony was held in the new factory area. The participants included: Mr. Harry Schmelzer Jr., President of WEG Global Group; Mr. Siegfried Kreutzfeld, Executive Director of WEG China; Mr. Luis Alberto Tiefensee, Motor Division; Ms. Ana Perez, Consul General of Brazil in China; Mr. Chen Xiaodong, Mayor of Rugao; Ms. Mao Hongyu, Deputy Mayor of Rugao; Mr. Si Zhujian, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee.

In his opening speech, Harry Schmelzer Jr., President of WEG Global Group, emphasized the importance of the new Rugao plant: "Today we are taking our business in China to a new level. With a total investment of more than 120 million US dollars, the Rugao plant is now WEG's largest production base in China. We expect to produce more than one million industrial motors per year in the new industrial environment."
